About
A comfortable and reliable connection is essential for creating a calm and gentle injection ritual. The difference between Luer Lock and Slip Tip syringes for TRT is something many people do not fully understand when they first begin exploring testosterone therapy. The volume of medication prescribed accounts for "loss" in the syringe tip and needle. A 1-inch or ⅝-inch needle can be inserted through the skin and into the underlying fatty tissue for SC injections.
Needless to say, I am no longer worried about this needle breaking under even the most extreme conditions! I was able to bend the needle past 90 degrees, and it did not break! I held the hub between my fingers and gripped the needle shaft with a pair of pliers. These 30G1 pins are the best of both worlds -- insulin needle diameter, with IM length!
Understanding how these two syringe types differ helps make the entire process feel softer, more controlled and far more reassuring. We recognize that some people use multiuse vials for more than 28 days after puncturing but cannot recommend this given the package labeling. Multiuse vials are most common for delestrogen but are occasionally available for testosterone. We recognize that some people use single-use vials for several doses but cannot recommend this given the package labeling. This labeling has to do with the preservatives, packaging, and testing a particular medication and vial has gone through. Most commonly, testosterone is available as a single-use 1 mL vial and delestrogen is available as a 10 mL multiuse vial. Injectable medication vials are packaged and labeled for single-use or multiuse.
PPMI patients receiving injectable hormone therapy can purchase injection supplies at the front desk with a prescription from the clinician. Planned Parenthood of Michigan prescribes injectable testosterone and estradiol (estrogen) for gender-affirming hormone care. I just wanted to share this information in case any of you guys have been looking for an alternative to the traditional needle sizes that we commonly use for TRT. I had no problem pushing the oil through -- it was slow, but steady. The next thing I did was a small test to see if I could push oil through these tiny pins.
Testosterone enanthate is suspended in sesame seed oil. Milliliters and cubic centimeters are the same amount. 1mL of a substance takes up 1 cubic centimeter of space. Millimeters are a measure of volume, which is how much space something takes up, not how much it weighs or how dense it is. We generally recommend using a 1mL syringe. Syringes are sold by volume, or by how much material they contain. Our most popular custom kit for customers who require self-administered medication.
